Passport Book or Passport Card will be required by June 01, 2009.

 

Passport Books are valid for international travel by air, sea or land.

 

Passport Cards are valid when entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border crossing. Passport Cards are NOT valid for internatonal travel by air.

 

Passport Books/Passport Cards are valid for 10yrs. for adults & 5yrs. for miners (16yrs. & under)

President Felipe Calderon officially inauguarated the Mar De Cortes International Airport servicing Puerto Penasco and the Sonoran Gold Coast.

On November 5th, 2009 the final step took place. The Inauguration of the Mar de Cortes Airport was an invitation only event that lasted throughout the entire day. National coverage begain the previous day with live

broadcast from the Mayan Palace. A first class luncheon on the day of the Inauguration was hosted by the  Mayan Palace.  Flight schedules are still pending, but are very optimistic that it wont be too long now.

The ceremony was very emotional for the people of Puerto Penasco who been waiting for this International Airport, as well as the Panoramic Coastal Highway that connects with US Highway I-8 to Yuma,Az and San Diego, Ca.

Sponsors - State of Sonora and Mayan Resort Group (Grupo Vidanta)

Capacity - up to Boeing 767 and Airbus equivalents

Runway - 2500 meters (8200 feet)

Airlines expected: Alaskan Airlines, AeroMexico

Airlines Negotiations: Mexicana, American Airlines, American West, & Continental
