3rd annual tournament will take place Saturday, May 8th & Sunday, May 9th 2010.
The tournament will begin at 6:00am on Satrurday & Sunday
You can register on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th at the Convention and Visitors Bureau office; located on Blvd. Benito Juarez Calle 22.
Judged by 3, and the results are final
The following rules and regulations are as follows:
*The tournament is open to all ages for men and women.
*The tournament is open to all fisherman who register properly. Fisherman are required to follow the judge's rules regulations.
*Species to match are: Grouper, Pinto Bass, and Leopard Grouper
*Weight of the catch: Grouper over 60lbs, Pinto Bass & Leopard Grouper over 20lbs.
*Registration fee: (pending)
*Each person on the fishing boat must pay the registration fee
*Fisherman must have proof of current permits
*Permits can be obtained at the Fishing Regulations Dept. at City Hall. You can also purchase a permit at "SAFE MARINE" (located in the harbor) on the day of the tournament.
*The use of a electric reel is prohibited
*You may use jigs and hook with bait. The use of a hand line and hook to bring the fish to the boat is permitted.
*All fish must be at the weight station by 6:00pm on Saturday & 4:00pm on Sunday. No exceptions!
*Each species will have a champion, the hightest weight of the species fish will win. In case of a tie, the decision will be based on the size of the fish, first the length and then the girth.
*Water surveillance by the marines, the Harbor Police and Sagarpa will be used for safety
*In case of a mechanical failure to one's boat, a boat may transfer his catch to another boat in order to get the catch to the weight station.
*There will be a dinner Saturday night with the days catch, and on Sunday the extra fish will be donated to a local charity
Disqualified if:
*You use gill nets, lures with 3 hooks, multiple hooks on lines and any other fishing equipment that is not permitted
*You do not have a working VHF radio (on board)
*Any boat caught near a commerical boat will be disqualified immediately
*Any boat not registered to be in tournament
*Disqualifications for any reason, will not received a refund!
