Compared to the previous year, and with a 23% drop in hotel occupancy rates, 2009 had a reduction of nearly half a million visitors. 2009 could possible be catagorized as the worst year in a decade in the area of tourism. 2009 closed out on a average of 32.6%, which is less that 2008 at 40.6%, and much less at 55.2% from 2007. 2009 rounded out with 1.52 million tourist, in 2008 it was 1.992 million; in 2007 2.163 million. On average the daily expenditure amount tourism also dropped from $58 US to an average of $50 US per person. Last years tourism had an emorous impact on tourism and on its economy.
